These services allow patients to receive treatment or have procedures performed that do not require admission overnight. Nurses offer patients support and direction during treatment, pre and post-operative care, and also instruct and educate on discharge to ensure a successful outcome in the home setting. The purpose of outpatient care is to keep hospital costs down, as well as save the patient time that would otherwise be wasted in the hospital. Most of the Chemotherapies administered are also done on a Day Care basis.
